LIDC is excited to announce that its student membership is now being offered to students of non-LIDC member institutions. Students anywhere, including outside of the University of London and the UK, can now become student members of LIDC for just £10 per year. This membership gives access to all the benefits of the LIDC student membership. This means that students at any university can get involved in LIDC’s exciting activities and join the largest global community of international development researchers.

Gain free access to events and monthly updates from the LIDC
Student members get free priority access to LIDC’s events. Our events are an amazing opportunity to hear from experts about the most pressing issues in the field of international development, network and engage in current debates. Students will also receive our customised monthly student newsletter. The newsletter keeps you up to date with LIDC’s activities. It also highlights the latest exciting opportunities in development. It provides students with highlights from our blog, a selection of jobs in international development and events taking place at our member institutions.
Access a fantastic internship opportunity (on hold in 2021)
Individual student members can apply to our popular internship. For a period of six weeks, and for around 10-12 hours per week, our interns work alongside LIDC’s communications staff. The internship gives students and recent graduates get the opportunity to further their career by discovering the role of communications and social media in international development while supporting the work of LIDC. Interns get a taste of working in the field and benefit from training in communications as well as valuable careers guidance from LIDC staff. All LIDC staff has been working from home since March, and our interns do the same. We remain in constant contact with our interns via Zoom and email to make sure they get as much learning from the internship as possible.
