LIDC – IOE Grantsmanship Seminar

LIDC and UCL Institute of Education (IOE) are delighted to hold a Grantmanship Seminar from 11.30 – 14.00 on Thursday 16 May in Room 804, UCL Institute of Education, 20 Bedford Way, WC1H 0AL. The event will highlight current grant opportunities, particularly in international development research, among post-PhDs.
The seminar will comprise presentations and an interactive session that explore the funding landscape in the UK and provide practical advice for researchers to apply successfully for funding. We will also showcase successful projects and illustrate the role that the LIDC and its network can play.
Furthermore the event will provide an opportunity for attendees to make connections and explore collaboration with likeminded researchers.

11:35 – 11.50: Overview of the UK funding landscape including key funders and research funded. Presenter: Dr Ana Antunes-Martins, LIDC Research Programme Manager
11.50 – 12:00: Tips for writing a successful application. Presenter: Steve Morrison, IOE/SLASH Research Facilitator
12.00 – 12:10: Tips for budgeting. Presenter: Loleta Fahad, Research Operations Office, IOE Research Operations Manager
12.10 – 12.25: Break
12.25 – 13.10: Interactive group activity on scoring an application. Facilitator: Ana Antunes-Martins
13.10 – 13.40: Presentations from current grant holders. Presenters: Dr Amy Harrison, Lecturer in Psychology, IOE, Dr Mandy Sadan, Reader, SOAS, and Dr Melanie Bunce, Senior Lecturer, City, University of London
13.40 – 14.00: Lunch
