Ahead of a festival of films by Iranian women co-curated by the Persian Educational Foundation (PEF) and Film Buzz in June 2023,  Human Rights Academic and Advocate, Dr Tahirih Danesh sat down with LIDC’s Charine John to discuss the motivation for the festival and its place in the ongoing campaign led by women within Iran under the slogan ‘Women, Life, Freedom.’ Watch their conversation here

About the Festival:

Spanning 23 and 24 June, PEF host screenings of short films made by female filmmakers that will educate, inspire and empower all those who long for freedom and democracy to continue to carry forward the campaign for justice sparked by the death in custody of 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian, Jina Mahsa Amini.  The screenings will take place at the Curzon Victoria cinema in central London.  Proceeds go towards the Mahsa Jina Amini Scholarship for Iranian Students in UK.

VIP Reception

PThe festival features a rich selection of films in Persian with English subtitles and includes a VIP reception with actor, director, writer and producer Nicole Ansari Cox  on the evening (5-7pm) of Friday 23 June.
