Our hugely popular Evaluation for Development Programmes short course returns for a third year, taking place from 13th-17th November 2017! Bursaries are available.

Impact evaluation is an increasingly important part of development projects and programmes, required by all major donors and widely used by development actors (NGOs, international organisations etc.). This means there is a pressing need for both current and future development professionals to develop skills that will allow them to understand, commission and use evaluation studies.

The short course will cover a range of topics including:

• What is evaluation?
• Why evaluate?
• What questions do you want to answer?
• Experimental design methods and the politics of fieldwork.

The course will be led by impact evaluation experts from LIDC member organisations: SOAS, UCL Institute of Education (UCL-IOE), London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie). 

Past attendees have come from a wide range of academic institutions and development organisations including the Asian Development Bank, Mercy Corps, Ministry of Justice (Jamaica), Action Aid, BBC Media Action, WHO, World Bank and the Ministry of Health (Malawi).

The course will run from 13th- 17th November around Russell Square in London’s historic Bloomsbury area.
